{Day 4}

Today we did a windshield survey.
Going into today I really don't feel like I prepared myself enough, so when C showed up at my house at 9:30 I was at a loss of where we should start.
Luckily we were both on the same page & made a game plan together before we headed out.
I realized today just how difficult I find it to be sent off with little to no guidance.
Also I am not a huge fan of approaching perfect strangers.
But we got through it & collected ample information from our sources around the community we were surveying.
We called it quits around 3pm.

Tomorrow is a new day!
Tomorrow we go to our agency (which is an elementary school), where we will be meeting up with a contact person (principle) & collaborating with them to assess the needs of the population (students) and hopefully deciding on something, that we as students can set into action, to help make a positive healthy change for that population.

{Day 3}

Today was an exhausting day.
This will be short, but I have promised myself to try and get down at least SOMETHING from every day this semester so I can remember where I came from when I get to the end and think;
 "How the heck did I get here?!?!"

The day started later than I wanted, as per usual. I don't know what it is about me & my snooze button lately… but luckily I wasn't late.
I met with my clinical group at our placement at 9am.
It was another day of orientation, we got a tour of the place and then spent pretty well the rest of the time in a tiny glass room going over all of the different assignments and expectations of us over the course of this rotation.
I am feeling slightly overwhelmed light on the slightly/heavy on the overwhelmed
The amount of work that needs to get done seems nearly impossible right now, but I know I will find someway/somehow to get it all done. The last part of the day we were split off into our groups and we got a start on one of our major assignments.
I am still absolutely LOVING my instructor.

We ended up getting let go earlier (3pm) than expected (4:30pm) so I went to my grandma's place to check on her and visit...
Then I stopped by work and put in a couple hours there…
I got home around 8, ate supper & proceeded to prepare for tomorrow.

Tomorrow my partner C & I will be doing a windshield survey.
I am looking forward to it. :)
Especially since we get to pick our own hours and we decided to start at 9:30.
HELLOOO snooze button!

{Day 2}

Day 2 was a long one.
More orientation.
Broken up into 3 parts.
1. First off we had an Intro to NURS 377 with just my clinical group (there are 8 of us).
2. Then we met up with ALL of the students who are going into 377 for a General Orientation to 377.
We broke for lunch & I caught up with some friends that I probably won't be seeing much of for the next 15 weeks.
3. Lastly my group of 8 met back up for Course Orientation with our instructor.

So I met my clinical instructor first thing this morning and I could not be happier!!!! She is everything I could ask for in a clinical instructor and MORE! She broke all of our nerves the moment she walked into the room. I am really excited about the next 5 weeks!!!

All of the required assignments, group work, presentations, newfound independence & weekly reflective journaling seems daunting for this community rotation, but I'm ready to tackle it head on.

I better get some sleep.

Tomorrow we are doing orientation at our placement from 9-4:30.

Nursing School: {Year 3} {Semester 2} {Day 1}

Today was the first day of my second semester of year 3 if that wasn't already clear from the title. It was a day filled with orientation; renewing our WHIMIS, fire safety, codes, etc. We met for 2 hours. Pretty uneventful day.

Tomorrow I meet with my first clinical instructor of the semester for my community rotation. I'll be with her for the next 5 weeks so I'm hoping she is at the very least fair. That is all I can hope for at this point. I have had ABSOLUTELY AMAZING instructors thus far with the exception of a couple and I just really hope my luck doesn't run out, because I've definitely heard some horror stories

Looking forward to this fresh new semester, this fresh new year ahead, it feels like a fresh start. I can't believe I have come this far already. I can't believe I am in my second semester of 3rd year Nursing. I can't WAIT to put everything I've learned into the next 15 weeks of clinical. This is what I am here for.

A photo, because a post is always better with a photo. :)
